Carmen Nickerson with Special Guests Kostia & Stas

Carmen Nickerson along with internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, Kostia Efimov & world renowned bayan/accordion player, Stas Venglevski. Together, they have gained a reputation for crafting shows that break free from boundaries and explore a diverse range of genres, including jazz, American standards, alternative rock, bluegrass, and elements of country with their unique flair.

ABOUT CARMEN

Singer-songwriter, Carmen Nickerson, grew up on her family’s small farm in Iowa, where the roots of her powerful, message-driven music took hold. In 2016, Carmen joined forces with renowned artist Willy Porter to release the critically acclaimed duo album Bonfire To Ash. Her 2023 solo project, Room To Grow, was named one of the top 15 albums of the year by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Piet Levy described Carmen’s voice as “shimmering,” adding that it “seizes the spotlight.”

Carmen is joined by Kostia Efimov, an esteemed pianist trained in St. Petersburg, and Stas Venglevski, a celebrated bayan accordionist. Kostia’s career includes recording for Narada Records, while Stas most recently performed as a soloist with The Manhattan Symphonic Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Carmen and her band, along with these incredible artists, deliver unforgettable performances that blend rich musical traditions with contemporary soul.

ABOUT KASTIA AND STAS

Kostia Efimov is a pianist, composer, and teacher who was born in the Soviet Union and performed to his first American audience at the Milwaukee Art Museum in 1989. He’s worked on a number of film soundtracks, tribute recordings, and solo albums over the span of decades. His most recent record is 2018’s “Still, Still, Still” on which he plays Russian impressions of Christmas music.

Stas Venglevski is a bayanist, composer, conductor, arranger, entertainer and a teacher and hisextensive repertoire includes his original compositions and a broad range of classical, contemporary and ethnic music. He has toured extensively as a soloist throughout the former Soviet Union, Canada, Europe, and the United States and most recently in South Africa. Numerous U.S. performances include performances with Doc Severinsen, Steve Allen and Garrison Keillor on thePrairie Home Companion Show.
