Audition times, sign-up links, and casting information will be posted two to four weeks before each audition. Waukesha Civic Theatre is committed to telling inclusive and diverse stories. We encourage all performers to audition for any role they choose, regardless of race, age, gender, national or ethnic origin, religious background, or lived experience of disabilities.

Fading stage stars George and Charlotte Hay are clinging to one last shot at glory while performing repertory in Buffalo, New York. When they learn that famed director Frank Capra may be in the audience, it could be their big Hollywood break –  if their crumbling marriage, oversized egos, and a cascade of comic disasters don’t derail everything first.

Packed with mistaken identities, romantic mix-ups, and nonstop backstage mayhem, this high-energy comedic farce is a love letter to the beautiful madness of the theatre.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, including monologues and partner scenes. Auditioners may be asked to stay beyond their allotted half hour time if available.

Not Alone in the Universe

ACADEMY CABARET

Not Alone in the Universe is a two act cabaret about showing up for each other, sharing the spotlight, and honoring the people who remind us we are never alone. This October, the Waukesha Civic Theatre invites youth and a parent, relative, mentor, or teacher to take the stage together. Each pair will perform a duet celebrating connection, belonging, and supportive relationships.

Cast Size: 20-25
This cabaret will feature 10-12 duets that include one adult and one youth performer (under 18). We are encouraging parents to audition with their young performer but are also including other family members, coaches, or teacher duos. If you have someone in your life that you have always dreamed of sharing the stage with, we want to see you.

For the audition: Please come prepared with a song 1-2 minutes long with backing music. A link to a YouTube karaoke track similar resource should be provided by the auditioner. Live accompaniment will not be provided. Cabaret cast members will be asked to take part in 1-3 group numbers with minimal choreography.

There will be four rehearsals at Waukesha Civic based on cast member availability in September.

As orders fly and tensions simmer, the staff channel their struggles, humor, and heart into an unexpected shared mission: crafting the perfect sandwich. What begins as a job becomes something more – a space to reclaim dignity, rediscover purpose, and dare to dream again.

Rich with warmth, grit, and sharp wit, this soulful drama celebrates resilience, community, and the power of second chances. In a place where good food is gospel, hope rises — one sandwich at a time.

This is an audition-based, tuition-based Academy production. Auditions are open to actors ages 13-18.

WCT Academy Teens bring myth to life in Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses, based on Ovid’s first-century epic.

The play weaves together familiar and rarely-told stories of transformation, juxtaposing the ancient and the contemporary to explore love, loss, and the inevitability of change. The ensemble embodies mythic figures like Midas, Eros and Psyche, and Orpheus and Eurydice through moments of joy, heartbreak, and daring.

Visually and emotionally captivating, Metamorphoses invites audiences to reflect on the fluid nature of life, identity, and the world around us – a poetic and unforgettable journey brought vividly to life by these talented young performers.

Hits of the 90’s: A High Voltage Musical Revue of ‘90s hits

Part nostalgia trip, part dance-party, Hits of the 90’s is a feel-good celebration of the music, attitude, and unforgettable melodies that made the ’90s iconic.

Blind Dating at Happy Hour by Shaun Kempf

When Corwin Landcaster arrives early at his local tavern to meet his online crush, he expects an ordinary first date. Instead, he’s swept into a night of outrageous misunderstandings, eccentric regulars, and romantic curveballs that leave him battered, bewildered, and questioning everything.

As happy hour spirals into hilarity, Corwin must decide: hold out for the mystery woman he’s never met, or take a chance on the spark right in front of him? Warm, witty, and packed with small-town charm, this laugh-out-loud comedy proves that love rarely goes according to plan.

Into The Woods JR

This is an audition-based, tuition-based Academy production. Auditions are open to actors ages 8-18.

Follow Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his beanstalk, Rapunzel, and a Baker and his Wife as they journey into the woods to pursue their deepest wishes – only to discover that “happily ever after” comes with unexpected consequences. Faced with a witch’s curse, the Baker and his Wife must embark on a daring quest that changes them forever, while the other beloved characters confront their own hopes, dreams, and challenges along the way. Featuring the beloved music of Stephen Sondheim and the witty, imaginative book by James Lapine, Into the Woods JR. is a lyrically rich, enchanting adventure that celebrates the magic, mystery, and lessons of the classic Brothers Grimm tales.

Something Rotten!

As humor gives way to heartbreak, the women confront life, love, and loss together, discovering strength, resilience, and the enduring power of community. Warm, witty, and deeply moving, this beloved comedy proves that even in tragedy, laughter and love can carry us through.

As Seymour grapples with Audrey II’s sinister demands, chaos, laughs, and mayhem ensue in this deliciously twisted tale.
