Waukesha State Bank Art Gallery

Carol Leidgen-Schott
April 22 through May 19, 2008

Paintings by Carol Leidgen-Schott will be on display in the Waukesha State Bank Art Gallery at the Waukesha Civic Theatre from April 22nd through May 19th, 2008. She will also have a reception during the May 3rd art crawl from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Waukesha Civic Theatre lobby.
“In this exhibit, I decided to focus on my collection of  ‘on location’ subjects,” says Leidgen-Schott. “Some of these paintings were done from photographs, but most of them were either painted on site or started with drawings with the shadows painted in, and then completed at home in my studio. My style of painting is semi-impressionistic.”
Leidgen-Schott has always been interested in the arts and studied it at Lawrence University and Mount Mary College where she received her degree with a major in art and minors in Education and English. She has also studied art at UW-Whitewater and the Arrowmont School of Arts. Leidgen-Schott is licensed to teach kindergarten through adults and has over 35 years of teaching experience in both public and private education.
Now she spends much of her time in her studio creating her own art, which is created in her chosen medias of watercolor, silk painting, batik, and icon painting in the Byzantine technique with egg tempera. Her work hangs in public and private collections in California, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin. Leidgen-Schott continues to study with nationally recognized artists such as Rose Edin, Joseph Fettings, Roland Roycraft, Zolton Szabo, and most recently, Vladislav Andryjuv from the Russian School of Iconography.
The art gallery is open from noon to 5:00 pm Tuesday through Friday and two hours prior to curtain through intermission on show days. The Waukesha State Bank Art Gallery is located just outside the Mardi Bryant Jones Mainstage inside the Margaret Brate Bryant Civic Theatre building at 264 W. Main Street, downtown Waukesha. Access to the building is through the Main Street entrance. For more information, please call the Waukesha Civic Theatre office at 262-547-4911
