Take Two! Choreography Challenge Create A Play Incredible Improv

This is a performing class unlike any you’ve had before!  Students will start out by learning a popular monologue from an existing show.  They will then create an original ‘response’ monologue to it from one of the other characters in the show.  This class is a fun way to learn character development and how to look at storytelling from a different perspective.

Taught by Gwen Ter Haar

Choreography Challenge will provide tips and tricks to youth performers desiring to become more confident in picking up choreography. Classes will begin with a warmup and head into common steps used within combinations before moving into more stylized choreographed combinations. In this class, dancers will find a challenge in the speed at which the combinations are taught. This class will prepare you for your next audition by building confidence, increasing your repertoire of movement, and working on memorizing material quickly to be able to execute without sacrificing performance quality!

Taught by Gina Laurenzi

This wonderful introduction to acting will have the students each create their very own character.  They come up with all of the character details, even their costume!  Those characters are then written into an original script that the students perform for their family and friends.  Create A Play is a fun-filled first step into the world of acting.

Taught by Doug Jarecki

Improvisation is a great way to think on your feet more quickly, gain confidence, and have a lot of fun.  Our improv games will challenge students to step out of their comfort zone and take creative risks.  It’s also a great way to meet some fun new people!

Classes are $90 each.

AUDITION INFORMATION

Auditions will be video submission only.  Please prepare 32 bars of your favorite song.  Instrument accompaniment is not required.  Your song doesn’t need to be a villain piece, but it absolutely can be. If auditioning with a villain song, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’d be cast in that auditioned song. If cast, you’ll be given a song for the show per the director’s choice!

Audition Video Submission Deadline: Friday July 3

*** All audition videos should be sent to gwenterhaar@gmail.com.***

The beautiful songs you know from so many musicals had to be written before they could be sung.  In this songwriting class, students will work with the instructor to understand basic chords and lyric writing as they create their own, original song.  No musical experience is required, just a willingness to bring your ideas to life in a song.

In one week, students will memorize, rehearse, and perform a short comedic scene.  They will learn the stage skills that help bring characters to life on stage.  While building their communication and listening skills, they will also have a lot of fun!
