(All Boot Camp activities take place at Waukesha Civic Theatre, 264 West Main Street, Waukesha)
Jan 1&2--Writers meet from 5-7pm. The first night, writers draw subjects and locations
out of a hat and begin initial work on scripts. Writing mentors are available to brainstorm and advise.
Fri January 3--5pm-9pm--Writers turn in their scripts, and directors and actors arrive.
Directors will pull writer names out of a hat, and then pull actor names out of another hat to get the cast. The different casts break out into their rehearsal spaces and begin working on the scripts. Acting and directing mentors are present to assist at all times.
Saturday January 4--10am-approximately 7:30pm--Actors and directors arrive at 10am and continue working on blocking, costuming, etc. The show begins at 7:30pm that night.
Combat Boot Camp is a unique and challenging opportunity to work with local theatre professionals and take big creative risks. It gives students the chance to learn how to make strong choices on stage without second guessing themselves. It's an incredibly supportive environment and can be an invaluable experience for a young theatre student.
