A.C.T Theatre Arts Classes For Children!  

Join the staff of the Waukesha Civic Theatre’s acting program, A.C.T. (Academy at Civic Theatre) for our winter/spring theatre arts education classes!  Our spring after school improvisation class has been so popular and successful we are offering two more sessions.  Because these are add on classes, they are not offered through Park & Rec.  To register please call WCT’s business office at 262-547-4911.  Classes will be held in:

Improv Everyone! Improv is a great way to increase concentration, focus, energy, humor, and confidence!  And – ANYONE can do it!  There will be great activities and games to introduce some and improve others at the art of improvisation.  Session One classes meet once a week on Tuesdays for five weeks, from April 1 through April 29, and Session Two classes meet once a week on Tuesdays for five weeks, from May 6 through June 3. Taught by Doug Jarecki.   

Session One:

Ages 8 to 13.  Tuesdays, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, April 1 through April 29
Tuition:  $90.00   Minimum/Maximum:  6/12

Session Two:

Ages 8 to 13.  Tuesdays, 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, May 6 through June 3

Class Descriptions:  

Acting Up!  (Ages 6- 19)  While learning about the basics of theater, we will be exploring every outlet of creativity including theater games, pantomime, and much more, all while performing material created by the students themselves!  This is a great place for every child to shine at their best, gain confidence, and make new friends. 

Dance Fever.  (Ages 4-12)  Moving to the music of Broadway, students will be able to express themselves in dance.   

The Dirty Room.  (Ages 6-12)  Book, Music, and Lyrics By Scott Kopischke.  David travels to the magical land of Mikilikimakalakanaki to join forces with a misfit band of cleaning supplies to do battle with Dirty Phil and his filthy followers before they completely take over the land.  Students ages 6 to 12 present this delightful, full-length musical by local playwright Scott Kopischke July 25 to 27.  All registered students will be in the show.  Specific roles will be assigned the first two classes.  

High School Musical.  (Ages 13-19)  Book By David Simpatico, Music And Lyrics By Various Artists.  Disney Channel's smash hit musical comes to life on the WCT stage, performed by ACT students ages 13 to 19 August 1 to 10! Join Troy , Gabriella, Sharpay, Ryan, and all the students of East High as they sing and dance their way through this high energy phenomenon.  All registered students will be in the show.  Specific roles will be assigned the first two classes.

Lights, Camera, Action! (Ages 6-19)  Students will become television actors for one week as they memorize an original script, create fun characters, build confidence and have fun learning the tricks to acting on-camera.   The students’ video program will be shown to family and friends, date TBD.  Tuition includes video equipment used by instructors, and a personal DVD copy of the final video.  No previous acting experience is required.   

Marvelous Musicals!  (Ages 9 to 19)  Students will learn a Broadway song, featuring solo, duet and group singing, with choreographed staging, and wow all their friends and family.  

Songs & Rhyme Time.  (Ages 4 to 5)  Come and explore with us!  We will use our imaginations to enter the world of songs, rhythms, and rhymes.
